It would have become very confusing if both companies had a list of cars with three digit numbers, both having a zero in the middle. If I were Porsche, I would have been happy to go with the model numbers they adopted to differentiate the brands.

This is more my body style and no other year. Has to have both exhausts horns in the middle. Seen other F's, but when I saw it sitting at a light and remembered the horns? Clean lines for this specific F-type, IMO. I'm so tempted but no room in the garage. Haven't ridden since covid so I might wet the new battery and head out to sign up for the Dec Porsche test ride. Not about to pay 5k and ride the hot ones, but just to get a taste of the hot one for 2k? I forget the cars to prices to hours spent, I'll just take a ride down there to cook the battery once I prep it. Make a decision then.

Link doesn't work for me Hub but great to hear you're at least heading over to check out a potential Porsche test run.
Enjoy if you do it.

It's a bit like riding a ZX-14 for the first time.
You will either be smitten or find it's not all for you.

I'm pretty sure I know which one it will be...

Yeah, I didn't think the link would fly over your way.
Last picture, ala the old jag that was back in the what, 1950's with the bulbus rear wheel panel? That's what hooked me.

Could be wrong but I wonder where they got that rear quarter panel idea from???

Beg to differ, yanni. When I think of the color, british racing green, this pops into my head. I think the brit's racing heritage go back to those days, yes?

I can see the ever so slow design remains the same. I had a 1960 so I see how a 10 year jump kept that same style https://bringatrailer.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/1960-Porsche-356B-Front.jpg?w=620
I had a flash remembering how well this took the right hand hairpin, but the 4-dr Chevy Corvair tank slapped when I pushed it turning left there.

First time I saw this car I fell in love with the bubbled quarter. See the resemblance?

Sure.
It's always great to see racing heritage in the brands street models.
Most of the brands of this ilk have some sort of racing heritage.
Although surprises me that the high performance marque Lamborghini is the exception with an absolute minimal presence in this area.

Maybe thats the answer Hub.
Stop thinking small and get into a Lamborghini or Ferrari!!!

I had a mates Ferrari F430 for 4 days back in Sydney (on another thread here somewhere).
By far the best driving experience I have ever had.
Can't really be put into words in my opinion.

And look at the below pic of the F430 Hub.
Bulbous rear quarter panel!

Actually, yann, I'm more of a lines guy than a car guy. https://external-content.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fcdn.motor1.com%2Fimages%2Fmgl%2F8L0yv%2Fs3%2Fthe-10-greatest-pininfarina-classic-car-designs.jpg&f=1&nofb=1

Pininfarina has some weird styling and only one or two hit my mark. That line will never go out of style, IMO. I mean, that car screams aesthetics.

If we are talking about a number one car, then it's a Lambo. When he told Ferrari his cars where piles of shit and he could build a better one? Sold! But to be real, I have a Flat8Vette wallet. Tesla and that little coupe has a clean line to it. 0 to 96.5km in 1.1 sec. That's a 200k-US base model, and 230k-us if you want to hit that number.

I'm with Daddy and it's strictly performance, not dick measurements. If the E becomes the world's fastest bike, then I'm on it. I'm at the pinnacle on a bike. The Flat might smoke them with a little tweak here and there with a few aftermarket parts and beat the exotics in the cheap seats.

Good luck to you Hub.
Each unto their own.

The pic's of the Dino 246 you show is by far my favourite Ferrari.
Beautiful classic lines.

Again, another mate had one (going back around 35 years) and I think he paid $40,000 for back then.
I think they sell for over $300,000 now.

We did 220 km/h in that car on a Sydney freeway and I thought that was scary scary fast!
Now we do that on our bikes without blinking.

Funny world...

If that works for you Mr Lytnin, thats all that matters.

$1,000 or $100,000.
High performance or standard.
Modern or classic.
Sports or sedan.
Ford Focus or Ferrari.

It's all irrelevant.

And who cares if other people have showcase their negativity and bad mouth your choice.

RE: Porsche...
07/23/21 10:26 PM

Did I mention the guy a few houses down brought home a Porsche? Neighbor and I tried out a new restaurant and when he told me he knew the guy, then said he bought a fixer upper. Well, when I stepped out of the house to clean a neglected windshield, I heard him take a u-turn and head back to his house.

The other day I saw him sitting cross legged and in under the back wheel-well. When I heard that return back to his house, I told my neighbor that if I still have my mechanical ears, I heard some loud gears not meshing well. You can hear it's a fucking mess and who knows what that guy did, I said.

I then said I'm dying to find out what's wrong with it and he came back saying the 'what you wish for' thing and I said oh yeah, what was I thinking. Man it didn't sound good and I'm sure it will get back to him as to what I thought of it.

And no flat8 for 2023. Where I heard that I don't remember. There are about a page or two with upgrades, but no engine option getting more HP. So a gutted one starts at $62,000 US. A base 911 is $103,000. I can't see buying used at 80 and how much abuse was done to it? I'm saving close to 20k give or take on a virgin pedal.

I'm now receiving both Porsche and Vette news in the email. I have to get that Porsche track test out of my system. Right now, I'd have to go down to a shitload of chevy dealers and see who will sell at sticker. I want the gutted one in the cheap seats, because why would I add options if one after the other is a weight gain.

Besides, I want to see how those puppies last out in the field first. This is 2nd year for the C8. I see one on a flatbed, the alarm rings don't buy. I'm really in no rush. Probably try on the cooler months soon with the Porsche laps. My kind of Disney ticket ride, and it tips a bucket over.

Not quite true.
Connect a compatible diagnostic tool to a Porsche of pretty much any later year model and see it's driving history and how many if any dangerous over revs.
Certainly not perfect, but better than most other vehicles you can buy.

And tip that bucket Hub.
Tip it hard!!!

Oh, and don't forget to video it and give us all a review on your experience and thoughts...

That's why I'd have to hit all the dealers and OBTW, call me when it comes in and don't bother prepping it, just let me sign the pre-delivery papers off. So, base price and don't drive it or no sale [in writing]. Good luck on that.

Hey, I don't have a dick the the fire, Bumpee, but 'come on, man'...

I've been in the dark about both bike and cars lately. I have to be shown who's hot and who's not. Big mistake there, yanni. I knew the Porsche was going to beat most exotics, and can't find that vid somewhere in Europe where Lambo's, Ferraris, one exotic after the other were all beaten by this one Porsche. On this short straightaway, you could see who crossed [this big wide white stripe] first.

Now you pop this video up and I read the chart seeing the Porsche was smoked by the Vette, but more impressive were two Camaros out handling both Vette and Porsche. What a deal! I can hunt the dealers lots and come away with a 30k leftover out the door.

Smoke your ass for cheap, yanni. Thanks for the insight. And I used to work on them when they first came out. Well off high school kids would crash them-they'd get out of shape in a hurry. When I would take my loop on the road tests, they'd easily light up the tires and I can see how they'd get away from the less experienced. They to were impressively quick back then too.

911 - 144,000 473HP

Oh hell no, yanni. I'm up in the air about throwing money at the full 5k package on the Porsche drive. There are winter openings so I'm in no rush there. I want a taste of the GT3 for sure no matter the price. That's a given.

We have to pull our base amount from our ROTH/IRA when we reach 71 1/2. Uncle Sam wants his money now, not on your say. That's the whole reason behind saving all these years. But I just can't see paying that kind of money when I could sure use a thin light automatic on my wrist. My eco is just too heavy, walks too much. I made a mistake needing more pushers, no batteries to swap, but the eco has to make E and I forgot about the copper wound and so there you go weight wise. Hand on the head bump and all that non-thinking.

And I really want to drive their most clapped out car so I know how it declines out in the field, and especially in that abusive environment going on almost everyday. Met a friend in front of a watch store a few days ago. So before the restaurant opened, we lookie loo'd and the only thing that caught my eye was an IWC. Nice dial but didn't ask the price. But say it's around that Porsche full bucket price or less? The practical is do I yee-ha for an hour give or take, or a decent timepiece I can look at rather than remember.

Camo wise, you see all kinds of prices at dealers around the areas. They go from base price to over 80k. Because of the chip shortage, they all say 'in transit'... yeah right.

Well Hub, not that you need any opinions from me but a short term experience in a brilliant sports car or a beautiful watch that will pretty much last you forever?

Although a track drive in anger of a late model GT3 would be unforgettable, unless you're thinking of buying one there's only one answer in my book.

Get a great quality time piece that will always be with you and you can enjoy every day instead of just 1 days pleasure.

I have a few watches, but my favourite is a silver Tag Heuer Carrera.
Funny thing is I hardly wear it.
Quite heavy as you say.
My everyday go to is a Seiko Titanium Sportura Chronograph.
Super light and comfortable.

But no matter what you decide Hub, you win...

I'm about ZZ Topped out so I better enjoy something before I bend over and someone kick me in the shoulda-woulda-coulda-had a V8. But the more I have a look at performance cars, I'd have to wait for an older GT3 with low miles. Right now I'm entertaining myself so as not to jump in on the wrong car.

Right now it's down to two cars. I think it's more obvious who wins. I have both Vetteblog and the factory Porsche on my mailing list. The blog keeps slamming me with article after the other. So as I'm looking at the photos of the current vette, it's looking uglier by the minute. The cammo is a tamed down version of a door wedge line I can almost tolerate.

But walking out to the garage and see those lines on a GT3 I can live with, and now watching the video starting at 12:30, my eyes were glued to the steering wheel the whole time. You could see he was struggling with some precise steering looks like. It kind of points out how it's stable like the 14 at the same speeds.

Hub, I sometimes still do that on both 14 and Porsche (and it's only a Carrera S and not a GT3).

I have both Vetteblog and the factory Porsche on my mailing list.

I still can't believe you are on this Hub!

Anyway, take your time and get the eventual pick that's 100% right for you.
